Aeration tines (hollow tines, tines) are fitted to an aerator such as a Toro ProCore, John Deere Aercore or Verti-Drain. There are many types and sizes. With the right information, you can quickly find the tine that fits and does what you want.

What types are there?
| Hollow tines | Remove a soil core (plug) from the ground. For aeration and reducing thatch. |
|---|---|
| Side-eject tines | Hollow tines that eject the core through the side, so they are less likely to become blocked. |
| Solid tines | Make a hole without removing soil. Less disturbance to the top layer. |
| Cross and flat tines | For special applications, such as cutting or breaking open the soil. |
| With carbide tip | Tines with a carbide tip: last longer, especially in sand and hard soil. |

How to find the right product
- Search by the original part number. Enter the original part number in the search bar at the top of the webshop, or scan the barcode using the barcode icon. You will then see all matching products.
- No number? Choose the category All aeration tines and filter by Fits brand and then by Fits machine, Shank size, Working diameter and Working depth.
- Compare the dimensions with your old part. The product page lists all dimensions and the machines the product fits. The bottom of the product page often also lists the mounting hardware you need, such as bolts, nuts, retaining pins or bushes.
What information do you need?
| Machine | Make and type of aerator, for example Toro ProCore 648 or John Deere Aercore 800. |
|---|---|
| Shank size | The diameter of the part that goes into the tine holder, for example 3/8", 1/2", 5/8" or 3/4" (also shown in mm in the webshop). |
| Tine type | Hollow, side-eject, solid, cross or flat. With or without a carbide tip. |
| Working diameter | The diameter of the hole made by the tine. |
| Length or working depth | How deep the tine goes into the ground. |
What should you look out for when ordering?
Please note: choose the correct version. Aeration tines often look similar, but differ in shank size, working diameter, length and type (hollow, side-eject, solid). When ordering, check all the dimensions of your current tine and how many you need. Not sure? Place your old tine next to the photo and the dimensions on the product page.
- Shank size first. If the shank size does not fit into your tine holder, the tine will not fit, no matter how well the rest matches.
- Quantity. Work out how many tines you need: number of tines per head multiplied by the number of heads. It is preferable to replace all tines at the same time, so that you work to the same depth everywhere.
- Accessories. Do you also need new bushes, rings or holders? You can find these in the same category under Product type.
